Recently, I enjoyed the experience of boarding a new air-conditioned bus which has been introduced in the Gulshan area only a few days ago. I noticed that others who were travelling by the same bus were also very happy with the new service. The air-conditioned buses enhance the beauty of our city. Dilapidated and broken down public buses simply ruin the external beauty of a city and that exactly has happened in Dhaka. We hope, similar new services will be introduced in other metropolitan cities to reduce the pressure of private case and vans. More and more people will be encouraged to use public transport instead of buying and driving their own private vehicles which create a perpetual traffic gridlock in Dhaka. When I boarded the new bus at Gulshan I personally had a different feeling which is a pleasant and enjoyable one. The interior look of the new bus was different from rest of the buses in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country. Dhaka has one of the poorest public transport systems in the world and we need to improve it for the greater interest of the country. This is how we can ensure greater comfort of the tax payers and attract the foreigners to visit and invest in the country. A good public transport system definitely improves the image of the country. Commuting in Dhaka will be a pleasure rather than a never ending trail of sufferings. I thank the authority for introducing the new and comfortable bus service in Gulshan!
