A weeklong fabric show, titled Mill Week, has started on Monday in the city aiming to attract more foreign buyers.

Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Ltd of Noman Group of Industries has organised the fair at its corporate office in Gulshan of Dhaka.

This fabric show is the first of its kind organised by a single company.

Zaber and Zubair Fabric week also held last year as pilot basis where 150 buyers visited it, Md Nurul Islam founding chairman of Noman Group told reporters.

He expects about 300 buyers will visit the show that is displaying its latest collection--value added and fashionable fabrics, along with others for the spring and summer season of 2019.

Mill week is a worldwide standard concept for showcasing fabric/garment products range for buyers.

Mostly, global retailers and buyers are organizing mill week to select seasonal products from different suppliers, he explained.

“We participated most of the famous mill weeks globally with our house design creation through which we have achieved vast knowledge and rich design innovation capacity,” Mr Islam said.

The management decided to initiate a self-driven mill week of Zaber and Zubair Fabrics which is an opportunity not only for the company alone but also for the country to branding its image globally, he added.

The 49 years old entity currently have 36 factories creating employment for some 80,000 people.

Last year, the turnover of the group stood at $1.2 billion, said its deputy managing director Mohammad Abdullah Zaber.
