Uber makes 150m km trips in 2022

Uber completed 150 million kilometres in total trips during 2022, marking the company's expansion to all the eight divisions of Bangladesh, according to its annual report - released on Monday.

The report, backed by insights and data, emphasised Uber's support for communities by finding ways to use the Uber app to reinforce its commitment to safeguarding each trip, helping law-enforcement agencies improve overall road safety, and empowering driver partners to earn on the platform.

"The distance of 150 million km is equal to the distance from the Earth to the Sun," said a press statement of Uber.

Uber's services spanned across 20 cities in all eight divisions of the country in 2022.

Over the years, Uber has established itself as a multimodal ridesharing platform of choice in Bangladesh with its hassle-free commuting options, it added.

According to the report, Dhaka was the busiest city in the country with the most late-night trips (10:00 pm to 6:00 am) and the most office-hour trips (7:00 am to 11:00 am, and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm) with Uber's convenient and safe mobility solutions.

Riders in Bangladesh booked most of their trips between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, the report said.

It found that the highest number of trips in a single day was booked on September 9 (Friday), indicating that Bangladeshis chose the day to travel to offer prayers and meet loved ones.

In the same stride, the most popular day of the week for booking trips in 2022 was also Friday.

The most popular month of the year, in terms of the number of trips booked, was October, when the country celebrated both Durga Puja and Eid-e-Miladunnabi, as per the report.
