Thrust on safety, security to woo EU tourists

Government has taken initiatives to ensure safety and security for attracting more foreign tourists from different countries including the European Union (EU) nations.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Shahjahan Kamal said this while talking about the tourism-friendly measures adopted by the government of Bangladesh.

He was briefing the foreign journalists and international tour operators after inaugurating the Bangladesh pavilion at "Borsa International Tourism Fair 2018" in Italy on Sunday, said a message received in Dhaka on Monday.

The three-day fair has been joined by Bangladesh Tourism Board along with a number of local tour operators.

Some 2,000 companies from nearly 100 countries are taking part and displaying various products related to travel, tourism and leisure industry.

Bangladesh, the minister said, is an exciting tourist destination as it has a blend of splendid natural beauty and rich cultural and archaeological heritages.

BSS said Mr Kamal also had bilateral talks with Italian Deputy Minister for Heritage, Culture and Tourism Dr Dorina Bianchi and Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala as part of discussing various issues pertaining to bilateral mutual interests.
