Tea market witnesses strong demand

Tea market witnessed a strong demand from the beginning of the sale at the tea market on Tuesday, according to a press statement.

Blenders operated strongly although a major Blender stayed away from the market. There was some interest from the local tea buyers. Plain teas were often heavily discounted and a large weight was withdrawn without bids.  Dusts sold well.

CTC LEAF: As many as 42,903 packages and 275 packages of old season teas on offer met with quite a strong demand.

BROKENS: All clean Brokens met with a strong demand particularly the smaller varieties which often appreciated with competition. Mediums were about firm whilst the plainer varieties saw some interest at easier rates. There were several withdrawals in this category.

FANNINGS: Bright liquoring Fannings were a strong market and were generally fully firm to slightly dearer. Mediums were firm to a touch dearer whilst plainer types were a little easier with fair withdrawals.

CTC DUST: As many as 7,164 packages of teas on offer met with a good demand. Good liquoring varieties particularly the CDs sold well at around last levels. Medium teas were firm to slightly dearer market. Plain types saw a fair demand but were a touch easier with a few withdrawals. Blenders operated in greater strength for good liquoring varieties. There was a little enquiry from the Loose tea buyers.
