Mr Tarique Afzal has recently been appointed as the president and managing director of AB Bank.
Prior to the appointment, he served as the acting president and managing director of the Bank. Earlier, he joined AB Bank as the deputy managing director, says a press release received on Monday.
Mr Afzal has an extensive banking career. He started his career during the late 1980s in London, United Kingdom and later served in Credit Union in Canada, ANZ Grindlays Bank, Standard Chartered Bank in Bangladesh and abroad, the release added.
He also held senior positions in BRAC Bank and Bank Alfalah as well as represented data firm Dun & Bradstreet in Bangladesh as country head.
Mr Afzal also successfully led the automation and transformation of banking process and systems at the country’s two largest state owned financial institutions — Sonali and Rupali Bank.
