Petrobangla signs deal with HSMPL for LNG terminal at Kutubdia

Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) Tuesday signed Term-Sheet for LNG Terminal Use Agreement with Hongkong Shanghai Manjala Power Limited (HSMPL) and Petronas LNG Limited (Petronas) of Malaysia to set up a LNG terminal at Kutubdia in Cox's Bazar.

As per the agreement, the Hongkong Shanghai Manjala Power Limited (HSMPL) with Global LNG and Malaysia based Petronas LNG Limited would construct FSU and Fixed Jetty based Re-gasification Unit having 500 mmcfd capacity, reports BSS.

Petrobangla secretary Syed Ashfaquzzaman and chief executive officer of HSMPL with Global LNG and Petronas LNG Limited (Petronas), Malaysia Kazi Omar Zafar signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

Chaired by Petrobangla Chairman Abul Mansur M Faizullah, the signing ceremony was also addressed, among others, by Awami League Presidium Member Kazi Zafar Ullah, Lawmaker Begum Nilufar Zafar Ullah, Energy and Mineral Resources Division Secretary Nazimuddin Chowdhury.

Representatives and officials concerned of the organisations were also present.
