The number of private passenger cars increased by 8.10 per cent across the country in the past year.
Statistics available with Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) showed that newly registered private passenger cars stood at 21,947 in 2017 while it was 20,304 in 2016.
Of the total registered cars, more than 90 per cent were registered in Dhaka. Here in the past year, some 19,572 new private cars got registration from BRTA. The number was 18,010 in the previous year.
On an average, 53 new private cars are pressed into service in the capital city per day.
