Top diplomats of three Nordic countries visited Plummy Fashions Ltd, country’s first globally–certified green knitwear factory, in Narayanganj on Wednesday and appreciated the initiative.
They were Ambassador of Sweden Ms Charlotta Schlyter, Ambassador of Norway Ms Sidsel Bleken and Ambassador of Denmark Ms Winnie Estrup Petersen, according to a statement.
Former Advisor to the caretaker government Mrs Rokeya Afzal Rahman accompanied them.
The dignitaries walked around the factory and expressed their high satisfaction to make it not only safe work place for the worker but also for protection of the environment.
They also expressed their satisfaction regarding gradual development in the country’s ready-made garment industry in recent years.
They were of the view that green initiatives taken by Plummy and others will help to enhance positive image of Bangladesh in the world.
Managing director of Plummy Fashions Mr. Fazlul Hoque, also the former president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association described the salient features of the unit.
He also informed the guests that Plummy Fashions is the greenest knit garment factory in the world having LEED Platinum certificate from USGBC.
Among others, directors of Plummy Faysal Parag and Ranjan Kumar were present on the occasion.
