Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Saturday stressed the need for raising capacity build-up of general masses to accelerate the development of the country.
"The more we work, the more we consume energy ... and the country will move forward with increased activities," he said.
The finance minister said these while delivering the chief guest's speech at the closing ceremony of 'Power and Energy Week 2018'.
The three-day event was organised by Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).
Power, Energy and Mineral Resources adviser to the Prime Minister Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Power Division secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus and Energy and Mineral Resources Division secretary Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem also spoke at the programme.
Mr Muhith said people should also be inspired about how to produce more electricity.
People's working capacity must be enhanced to boost the country's resources, he said, adding "All of us are working towards that target."
Everybody should work so that the country can make it its way to prosperity, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Elahi said "The achievements that the government made in the power sector has been possible because of outstanding planning and proficiency in work."
However, he said, "It is just the beginning of a long journey, we have to go long way in future."
Urging the youths to get involved in the country's development initiatives, he said the government has to ensure food, education, health services, and employment for all people.
Energy and mineral resources secretary said the power and energy week was a success, as it drew huge participation from the country's youth, foreign delegates and private sector entrepreneurs.
Awards in different categories were also given to entrepreneurs and professionals for their contribution to the country's power and energy sector at the closing ceremony.
