Motorised vehicle registration witnesses slight rise in 2019

The number of registered motorised vehicles in the country witnessed a slight rise in 2019 compared to that of 2018, according to BRTA.

A total of 504,130 vehicles got registration from Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in 2019 while it was 497,374 in 2018, the transport regulator’s data showed.

Among the motorised vehicles, the highest number of registration was motor cycles while cargo van was the lowest number registered vehicles, its data found.

Some of 406,897motorcycles were registered in the period while the number of cargo van registered was only four, according to the data.

However, the registration of motorised vehicles in Dhaka witnessed a downward trend in the same period.

A total of 158,417 such vehicles got registration in the capital from the BRTA in 2019 while it was 171,349 in 2018, the transport regulator data showed.

Of them, the mode of vehicles that had the highest number of registration was motor cycles but auto tempos was the lowest number registered vehicles, its data found.

99,256 motorcycles were registered in the period while the number of auto tempo registered was zero, the data added.
