PPP Authority and Japan government will sit next week to craft the next action plan for proposed Japanese investment in Bangladesh, officials said.
The officials will meet in Japan for the second time from June 04-09 to jointly work on six mega rail and road projects here.
Sources said the technical conceptual part of each project is expected to be finalised during the meeting.
The event will be held under PPP Authority and Japanese Ministry of Land Infrastructure Transport and Tourism.
A whole range of issues like problems, prospects and scope in the projects will be discussed in the meeting, said an official of the PPP Authority.
The first platform meeting was held in December 2017, creating scope for the Japanese private sector's investment in the proposed projects.
Initial project offering on the projects was finalised at that time.
Earlier, PPP Authority identify infrastructure projects such as highways, ring roads, subways, and economic zones after having discussions with the ministries concerned but the joint management platform will then select a project for implementation.
Later, Japan organised a consortium for each project and a lead working group to work on the projects under PPP through government-to-government (G2G) arrangement.
Both PPPA and MLIT signed a memorandum of understanding to work on the investment under G2G- PPP to bring Japanese investment in PPP projects here.
The projects are two multimodal transport hubs at Kamalapur and Airport rail stations and Dhirarshrom Inland Container of Bangladesh Railway, Circular Road, Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Expressway and Mass Rapid Transit Line-02 of Road Transport and Highways Division.
PPP office sources said though two other projects under civil aviation and Bangladesh Bridge Authority were on the list of conceptual offering, the meeting will not discuss the schemes.
The projects-third terminal management and 2nd Padma Bridge-will need more time to take shape, they added.
Sources said officials of Bangladesh Railway, Ministry of Railway, Roads and Highways Department, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges will attend the meeting.
A representative from Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority will also be present as DTCA plays the role of a coordinator among the projects.
Japan has been giving Bangladesh nearly $02 billion as soft loans every year since the fiscal year 2012-13.
