Indonesia trade fair receives $274m orders from BD importers

Indonesian companies have secured US$274 million (Tk 22.5 billion) worth of orders from Bangladeshi importers during the first-ever Indonesia Fair 2018 that ended on Saturday.

Ms. Arlinda, the Deputy Trade Minister of Indonesia, disclosed the matter at the closing ceremony of the three-day trade and tourism fair held at Le Meridien Hotel in Dhaka.

The Indonesian deputy minister of trade said that business deals were made on the Indonesian products such as: carriages, motor vehicle (buses), spices, cosmetics, fashion, and food commodities.

Nearly 10 thousand visitors flocked at the fair that was organised by the Indonesian Embassy in cooperation with Ministry of Trade of Indonesia and Indonesia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the event, the trade mission, which includes more than 45 companies, came to Bangladesh to join Business Forum and Business Matching.

The Indonesia Trade Mission has also conducted a site visit to Meghna Group Industry (MGI), an importer of Indonesian products such as CPO, Pulp and Paper, and Clinker.

"We hope that MGI will cooperate more with Indonesia and import even more commodities, such as tea and coffee," the deputy minister said.

The Indonesian Deputy Minister of Trade has also invited business leaders from Bangladesh to attend the 33rd Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), which will be held on October24-28 this year at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, in Banten Province, Indonesia.
