Indonesia Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (INDOBDCCI) launched its website -- www.indobdcci.com -- on Thursday evening to facilitate businesses of both the countries with trade information.
A launching ceremony titled 'Promoting Bangladeshi and Indonesian Businesses in the Age of Digital Information and Communication Technology', organised by INDOBDCCI, was held at a city hotel.
Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Rina P Soemarno attended the programme as the chief guest.
INDOBDCCI president MA Khan Belal, senior vice-president Golam Mustafa, vice-president Sahjahan Kabir, executive director Maimun Ur Rashid Mustafa and director Mehrun N Islam were also present.
Welcoming the initiative of launching the website, the Indonesian ambassador said the INDOBDCCI's effort to promote the relations between the two countries is really admirable.
She also said the information related to trade and policy guidelines provided through the website will help the businesses of Indonesia and Bangladesh to better understand bilateral trade and investment perspectives.
During the last Bangladesh trade fair in Indonesia, many of the Indonesian business delegations have expressed their interest to invest in Bangladesh. But the enthusiasm did not thrive further due to communication and information gap, Ms Soemarno noted.
Mentioning Bangladesh's continuous technological advancement, she further said the website can create a link between the business communities of the two countries.
The INDOBDCCI senior vice-president said Bangladesh imports products worth over US$ 1.3 billion from Indonesia against the export of goods worth only $ 43 million.
