Human haulers are rising at a faster rate, according to the latest statistics of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
It showed that some 2,534 new human haulers got registration during the first seven months of the current calendar year (2017) while total number of newly registered such vehicles stood at 3,487 in the past year (2016).
BRTA statistics also showed that the number of registered human haulers at the end of July this year stood at 16,160 in total, some of which are now outmoded.
In the capital city, newly registered human haulers stood at 193 in January-July period of this year while the number was 787 in 2016.
In absence of well planned public transport system, human haulers have become an important alternative for commuters in the different parts of the country.
