Help maintain stable business climate, FBCCI urges all

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has called for maintaining stability in the country's business climate ahead of and during the upcoming national election.

To this end, the apex trade-body also urged the law-enforcement agencies to remain vigil in order to prevent any move to destabilise the country and to help its business activities run smoothly throughout the year.

The FBCCI Standing Committee on Law and Order, Anti-Smuggling discussed the issue at its Motijheel office in the capital on Wednesday.

Speaking at the meeting as the chief guest, FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin said the economy of Bangladesh has a good prospect.

"The country's economy is moving smoothly. Participation of all is necessary to take it forward."

He urged all, including businessmen, to work together for development of the economy.

The FBCCI president said due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war many investors started relocating their investments from there, and Bangladesh could avail the opportunity.

He called upon all to cooperate with the government for keeping the law and order situation under control for ensuring a stable business environment.

The role of law-enforcement agencies is important to keep the business environment stable that would attract more foreign and local investments, Mr Jashim Uddin maintained.

It is the high time to establish industries here for manufacturing various products locally to reduce the country's dependency on import, he added.

FBCCI Vice-President Md Amin Helaly said the country's business environment is now good, and also stressed cooperation from all to improve the environment further.

Sabedur Rahman Khoka, chairman of the FBCCI standing committee and president of the Bangladesh Shoe Dealers Association, called upon the government to include private sector representatives in the government committees concerned to prevent smuggling.
