First digital platform for rural women entrepreneurs

In collaboration with WEESMS, Bagdoom.com has launched its new initiative KRISHTI - a flexible, accessible and cost-effective e-commerce platform to explore business prospects beyond conventional channels for rural women entrepreneurs.

KRISHTI is a women empowerment initiative focused on providing rural women entrepreneurs more advanced platform to sell their products nationwide and expand their customer base.

WEESMS- Women's Economic Empowerment through Strengthening Market Systems Programme is funded by the Embassy of Sweden and implemented by iDE Bangladesh and The Asia Foundation and currently working in Rangpur and Khulna divisions across 9 districts in Home Textiles and Jute Diversified Products and Processed and Packaged Foods.

A launching programme was held recently at the Daily Star Center in the city. The Country Director of iDE Bangladesh, Deepak Dhoj Khadka, and Co-Founder of Bagdoom.com Syeda Kamrun Ahmed, along with the women entrepreneurs were present at the launching event.

Bagdoom.com and WEESMS have already conducted three training sessions in Rangpur area.  The participants received knowledge on product photography, quality assurance and basic account management on the BAGDOOM website.

Nearly 100 women participated in the training, out of which 30 women entrepreneurs have already signed up to sell their products on Krishti project. Four women entrepreneurs also showcased their products during the launching programme.

WEESMS and Bagdoom.com hope that this initiative will result in better business growth as well as financial sustainability for these rural women, said a statement.
