FBCCI urges govt to allocate lands for establishing sector-wise industries

Leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) have called on the government to allocate lands for establishing sector-wise industries in the country.

They made the call at a meeting of the FBCCI standing committee relating to the environment ministry at its boardroom in Dhaka city on Thursday.

They also stressed on checking environmental pollution alongside maintaining the huge and fast growing economic activities.

The FBCCI leadership said effluent treatment plants (ETPs) should be established, and monitored to prevent the pollution. They put importance on getting the benefit of ETP establishment fund.

They discussed about paying special attention to the brick fields, ship breaking yards, tanneries and textile dying plants to check pollution, according to a media statement.

During the meeting, it was decided about setting up an ‘Environment Cell’ at the FBCCI to provide necessary information relating to environmental issues.

Shahedul Islam Helal, chairman of the standing committee, presided over the meeting, while Hafez Harun-Or-Rashid, director in- charge of the committee, presented the detailed plan of the committee.

FBCCI Vice President Md Muntakim Ashraf and the Directors Abu Motaleb and Md Abu Naser, among others, were also present.
