The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) inspected 43,401 factories across the country in the financial year of (FY) 2018 – 2019, according to an official data.
The DIFE also revealed that the factories included garments, shops and different organisations.
It inspected 4,098 apparel factories, 14,890 shops, 8,020 various organisations and 16,092 other factories during the period, the DIFE data unveiled.
The department is working relentlessly to ensure a safe working environment in factories, shops and establishments as per Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006 and Bangladesh Labour Rules, 2015.
To enforce the law, the DIFE regularly inspects factories or establishments on the spot and identifies the violations of labour laws and regulations. It also issues notices to factory and establishment authorities stating the time for their rectification.
The DIFE also gives advice to the factory owners or management or concerned authorities from time to time to make them aware of safety and other issues.
