Dhaka sees over 12,000 new private cars in 7 months

 

 

Dhaka city saw over 12,000 new private cars in the first seven months of the current calendar year.

 

The latest statistics of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) showed that the number of newly registered private cars stood at 12,488 during January-July period of the current year.

 

To put it in perspective, on average every day 58 new private cars are pressed into service in Dhaka now.

 

The BRTA data also showed that the number of newly registered private cars across the country stood at 14,080 during the period under review.

 

It means, around 88 per cent new private cars are concentrated in the capital city.

 

The data also showed the number of cars registered in Bangladesh in the first seven months of this year has crossed that of the entire 2013. In that year, some 10,472 private cars were registered with the BRTA.
