Court seeks info on PLFS directors' shares

This time, the High Court (HC) has sought information on the shares held by each director of the People's Leasing and Financial Services Limited (PLFS).

At the same time, it wanted to know the details about when and to whom the former directors of the non-bank financial institution had sold their shares.

A one-member bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar on Thursday passed the order while holding hearing in a case filed to this end.

PLFS provisional liquidator Md Asaduzzaman Khan, also Bangladesh Bank's financial institutions department deputy general manager, has been asked to supply the information to the court.

Meanwhile, he sent a list of directors, who have been with the company since the year 2004, to the HC in compliance with an order issued on March 10.

Barrister Mejbahur Rahman, a counsel for the liquidator, submitted the list to the court on behalf of his client.

A total of 37 directors had been with the company since 2004 and 10 are still continuing as directors to date, the lawyer quoted the report.

Directors Uzzal Kumar Nandi, Noung Chow Mong, Nizamul Ahsan, Sayma Islam, Abdul Qader Siddiqi, Nai Aye Ching, Shekar Kumar Halder, Iqbal Syeed, Sukumar Mridha and Amitav Adhikary are still with the company.

The includes PLFS former directors SM Rezaul Karim, AH Ekbal Hossain, Kazi Momrez Mahmud, Afruza Suraya Mojumder, Capt M Moazzam Hossain, Md Zahirul Islam, Shamsul Islam Mollah, Nargis Alamin, Khabir Uddin Miah, Humaira Alamin, Arafin Shamsul Alamin, Motiur Rahman, M Aminul Islam, Ehsan Moazzam, Sarder Neamul Islam, Bishwajit Kumar Roy and Md Shirajul Isalm Mollah.

The names of Mohammad Yousuf Ismail, Farzana Moazzam, Ashraf Ali, TM Fateh Kabir, Kamrun Nahar, AKM Shahidul Islam, HBM Lutfuar Rahman, Mohammad Irshad Ali, Milon Habibur Rahman and TIM Nurul Kabir are also on the list as former directors.
