Canada to continue selling potassium fertiliser in Bangladesh, agriculture minister says

Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque said Canada would continue selling potassium fertiliser in Bangladesh.

The minister also said due to the Russia-Ukraine war and blockade, there was extreme global uncertainty about potassium fertiliser last year.

He came up with the remark at a meeting with a delegation of Canadian Commercial Corporation at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital on Thursday.

Canadian High Commissioner Lilly Nicholls led the delegation of the CCC.

“Bangladesh could not buy potassium fertiliser from Belarus”, Dr Razzaque said, adding that at that time, with the efforts of the government, Canada provided us with 0.5 million tonnes of potassium fertiliser urgently.

As a result, there was no shortage of fertiliser in the Rabi season and the ongoing Boro season, he added.
