BRAC Bank celebrates International Women’s Day

BRAC Bank organized a panel discussion prior to international women’s day to celebrate the values of the day.

The bank, in association with its women banking solution, TARA, organized a panel discussion recently at its head office in Dhaka’s Tejgaon district.

 Speakers included Advocate Salma Ali, President of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers’ Association (BNWLA), social activist Rawnak Jahan, Bangladesh’s first female combat pilot Squadron Leader Tamanna-E-Lutfi GD,P and the bank’s Chief Financial Officer and DMD M Masud Rana, Chief Operating Officer and DMD Sabbir Hossain and Head of HR Bilquis Jahan.

 

The speakers talked about the importance of equality both at work and home. Advocate Salma Ali shared her experience of how she fought against violence and injustice to women and difficulties she faced while developing and lobbying for the pro-women national laws.

 

Tamanna-E-Lutfi, the country’s first female combat pilot, talked about courage as she believes that it is the most significant component in a woman’s life. Women must be encourages to be brave and bold by their family so that they can make the desired progress alongside their counterpart.

 

Bilquis Jahan, the bank’s Head of HR, announced that they are launching a new policy on “Safeguarding” that will help protect both male and female colleagues from all sort of bullying, harassment, humiliation and other startling instances at work.

 

M Masud Rana and Sabbir Hossain, the two male panelist of the session, shared how their lives are influenced by women. They also share their experience of increasing the number of female colleagues in the banking industry and how it could be more conducive for all to achieve greater results at work.

 

A question and answer session was arranged at the end of the panel discussion. Around 150 colleagues participated in the panel discussion.
