BRAC Bank Limited has come forward to provide scholarships to the meritorious students of Dhaka University's Business Studies Faculty as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The scholarship has been awarded to 150 talented students of the faculty.
Deputy Managing Director and CRO of BRAC Bank Limited Chowdhury Akhtar Asif handed over a cheque amounting to BDT 9 million (90 lakh) to Dhaka University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in a ceremony held at the Business Studies Faculty on Thursday, said a media release received today (Monday).
Dean of Business Studies Faculty Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Head of Communications of BRAC Bank Ekram Kabir and other senior officials were also present.
BRAC Bank is one of the major scholarship partners of Faculty of Business Studies, the release said.
BRAC Bank began a scholarship programme with 40 students of the faculty in March 2017 at BDT 5,000 per student per month. In 2018, 40 more students were added to scholarship coverage with total beneficiary of 80 students. This year, in 2019, it has expanded the scholarship further with total beneficiary of 150 students.
