Biman Bangladesh Airlines sold tickets totalling nearly Tk 14 million at the concluded international tourism fair in the capital, said the organisers on Sunday.

A good number of people visited the three-day event that ended on Saturday as many sought to take advantage of attractive discounts on air tickets, being offered by the participating travel companies and agents, said Syed Shafat Uddin Ahmed Tomal, managing director of Market n-Trance Limited.

Started at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Thursday, the fair titled 'Biman Bangladesh Travel & Tourism Fair (BTTF) 2018' drew the interests of hundreds of potential travellers following the lucrative offers on air tickets.

The Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), the apex body of the county's tour operators, organised the fair with an aim to expedite, promote, and boost the tourism sector of Bangladesh.

In addition to host Bangladesh, various national and international tourism organisations, tour operators, travel agents, tourism authority, airlines, hotels and resorts from Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bhutan, the UAE, China, Cambodia, the Maldives, and Vietnam have joined the fair.

Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) along with Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC), Nepal Tourism Board, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and the Ministry of Tourism of India have also taken part in the fair.

There were 10 pavilions, 18 mini-pavilions, and 130 stalls in the fair.

On the sidelines of the fair, the TOAB has also organised a Business to Business (B2B) session between its members and foreign exhibitors for the first time to boost inbound tourism in the country.
