BB urges banks to train outgoing workers

Bangladesh Bank (BB) urged all commercial banks to provide training to the unskilled workers who are going abroad under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to increase the inflow of remittance.

"BB is taking different initiatives to increase the inflow of remittance. As part of the initiatives, many autonomous bodies should arrange training programmes for the outgoing workers aimed at making them skilled," reports BSS citing a circular on Thursday.

If banks can bear the necessary expenses of the training programmes and opening the outgoing workers' bank accounts without cost under its CSR activities, it can remove the barriers of inflow of remittance through legal channels.

The circular also said the initiative is likely to increase the inflow of remittance.
