Bangladesh Bank (BB) has authorised digital marketing payments with co-branded credit cards for the BASIS members to help increase the volume of transactions and development of the IT sector.
Earlier, BASIS placed a few valid proposals to the central bank on behalf of its members.
BB accepted the proposals after scrutinising them and published a circular in this regard.
Purchase of IT and ITES products and services using co-branded cards has long been demanded by the BASIS members.
Facebook, Google and other digtial platforms' payments are now being authorised by co-branded cards following the issuance of new circular.
Senior officials of 11 commercial banks held two separate meetings with Deputy Governor Ahmed Jamal, Executive Director Humayun Kabir and General Manager Khurshid Wahab of Bangladesh Bank in this regard on November 17.
