Barrister Sumaiya Aziz made executive member of Business and Professional Women’s Club

Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Sumaiya Aziz has been elected an executive member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPW), Dhaka for the term 2023-25.

Founded in 1960 at the heart of Dhaka city, the organisation works with business and professional women from more than 100 countries. This influential international network develops the professional, leadership and business potential of women on all levels through mentoring, networking, skill building and economic empowerment programmes, according to a media release.

The BPW also provides accommodation for business and professional women to ensure a safe environment for women engaged in social work and building a position in the society. Besides, it greatly assists women in rural areas and gives them opportunities to work in cities. It also helps them establish their position at the global level and ensure economic independence.

For being elected an executive member of BPW, Barrister Sumaiya Aziz will make an important contribution over the next two years in the society to create mutual networking of business and professional women, the release says.

Sumaiya Aziz has always represented various reputed business and professional organisations of Bangladesh in the global arena. She is a member of United Kingdom-based Lincoln’s Inn, a thriving society of barristers.

Sumaiya is also actively involved in many women’s rights and business organisations to safeguard women’s rights both nationally and internationally. She is a member of the International Section of UN Human Rights Lawyers and also represents various Bangladeshi business organisations as a member of the World Economic Forum, the release adds.

Earlier in her career, Sumaiya Aziz successfully served on the board of directors of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association and Bangladesh Employers’ Federation.
