A three-day fair titled 'Bangladesh Buildcon International Expo 2018' related to construction sector will kick off on Thursday aiming to give an impetus to the country's economy.
To be held at the city's International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), the event is expected to create greater interactions among the stakeholders.
ASK Trade and Exhibitions of Bangladesh and Futurex Trade Fair and Events of India will jointly organise the exposition.
They made the announcement at a press conference, held at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday afternoon, a statement said.
Director of House Building Research Institute (HBRI) Mohammad Shamim Akhter, Head of Architecture Department at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Dr Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed and Managing Director of ASK Trade Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan attended the press conference among others.
According to the organisers, two other trade shows, titled 'Green Arch 2018' and the '4th Bangladesh Wood International Expo 2018' will take place simultaneously at the same venue.
Around 200 businesses from 10 different countries including Bangladesh will participate in the exhibitions.
They will showcase product and services related to architecture, building materials, ready-mix concrete, brick-making, woodwork, furniture, power tool, fittings, and adhesives.
The trade shows will remain open for the visitors from 11.00am to 7.00pm every day without entry fee.
Three seminars and several technical sessions will also take place on the sideline of the tradeshows at the venue.
The seminars and technical sessions to be held there will include architecture, environment-friendly construction method, alternative materials and innovation.
