AB Bank Limited chairman Mohammad A. (Rumee) Ali on Monday congratulated all on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the bank.

He conveyed the congratulation in a message on Monday, which also touched on the COVID-19 crisis affecting the entire world, including Bangladesh, and imperatives to tide over this.

The message, sent from the office of the AB Bank chairman, is given below verbatim:

On the occasion of 38th Anniversary of AB Bank Limited, it is my privilege and great pleasure to congratulate you all.

As a nation, we are going through an unprecedented difficult time. COVID 19 has brought us and the world under its devastating grip. We can only speculate when we will be able to go back to normalcy. The damage it has brought to the economy is difficult to gauge but suffice to say it will be vastly damaging. Dealing with the financial impact across the world will be a tremendous challenge and will need the commitment of all like never before.

But as a Bangladeshi, I know we are a resilient nation collectively as well as individually. We have faced disasters in the past and have successfully prevailed. Our birth was from a glorious Liberation War and this struggle against COVID 19 and its aftermath, will need a new generation to commit itself to lead the struggle and win the war for the future generations. We need to revive our spirit, get out of our comfort zone, work hard and I am confident we will overcome this.

We at AB Bank have not given up our quest to become the best even during these troubled times. I believe that with the trust and support of our honourable shareholders, customers and regulators – we will surely succeed.

Let me take this opportunity to congratulate the President and Managing Director and the entire AB Team on the 38th Anniversary of the Bank. I would also like to thank the shareholders, customers, regulators and all the stakeholders for their continuous support.

Let’s all commit to remain on course to recover from this formidable crisis and steer the Bank from stormy and unsettled waters to prosperity.

Introducing the country to its very first private sector bank, AB Bank was incorporated on December 31, 1981. Arab Bangladesh Bank as formerly known started its effective operation on April 12, 1982.
