Out of nearly 9.1 million cattle, which were sacrificed across the country during Eid-ul-Azha festival this year, 4.4 per cent was traded online.
However, more cows and buffalos were sacrificed in Chattogram division this year than that of the central division of Dhaka, said the ministry of fisheries and livestock (MoFL).
The ministry also said a total of 90,93,242 cattle have been sacrificed, among which, the number of cow and buffalo were 40,53,069 and goats and sheep were 50,36,648.
Of the total sale, online platforms fetched 4.4 per cent of 387,589 cattle worth Tk 27.35 billion which is five times more than that of last year.
Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions sacrificed the most number of the animals.
People in Dhaka sacrificed nearly 2.3 million cattle of which cows and buffaloes were 970,000.
Chattogram division sacrificed 1.07 million cows and buffalos but 820,000 goats and sheep, said a MoFL release.
