253 Bangladeshis avail second home in Malaysia

During the first eight months of the past year, some 253 Bangladeshi citizens availed the long-term residency in Malaysia under the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme.

A total of 3,084 people from different countries availed their second home in Malaysia during January-August period of 2017.

Of them, 2498 people come from the top-10 countries taking part in the MM2H programme.

Statistics released by the Malaysian government also showed that Bangladeshis are the third largest to have accepted the benefit followed by Chinese and South Koreans.

Among those countries, Bangladesh is the only Least Developed Country (LDC) while developed countries like Australia, United Kingdom, United States, and Singapore are also on the list.

In 2016, 283 Bangladeshi citizens secured this long-term residency benefit in Malaysia.

The latest statistics also showed that since the inception of the MM2H programme, a total of 3,746 Bangladeshis availed the long-term residency in Malaysia and they shared 10.50 per cent of the total beneficiary until August 2017.
