0.1m RMG workers to receive salary through bKash

About 0.1 million (one lac) workers of ten more leading RMG factories will receive their salary through their bKash accounts.

The ten factories have signed agreements with country's largest mobile financial service provider, bKash.

With this, a total of around 350,000 workers of the country's 260 export-oriented garment factories adopted the digital disbursement solution, said a media release received today (Saturday).

The newly added garment factories in this service which will disburse salary through bKash are New Asia Group, Shinest Group, Evince Group, New Age Group, Debonair Group, Tamishna Group, Mahdeen Group, Vision Group, Shangu Group and Best Shirts Ltd.

The agreement was signed in an inauguration ceremony held recently at a hotel in the capital.

The conventional system of disbursing salary in cash to the workers has been very tiresome, expensive and complicated till now.

Moreover, on the day of salary disbursement, production is hampered and some effective man hour is also wasted. Therefore, a digital payment system like bKash has been adopted by many factory owners to address all these problems and make the overall payroll disbursement process easy, secure and transparent.

Moreover, the workers can use their bKash accounts’ money for various purposes immediately after receiving the salary, such as: sending money to other bKash accounts, buying airtime on mobile, paying different types of utility bills, making payment after purchasing products at shops, etc. Cash Out is also available from more than 0.2 million (2 lac) bKash agent points across the country. Even if workers want to have interests on their accounts, they surely can get it by saving money there.

bKash is also creating awareness among the workers on secure utilisation of mobile wallet after getting salary within the factories.

In broader aspect, bKash considers its digital salary disbursement solution is contributing in women empowerment, financial inclusion of the unbanked population towards building a Digital Bangladesh.
