Tokyo stock ended lower Thursday as investors offloaded firms reporting subpar earnings, while telecommunications issues weighed on the broader market amid concerns over price competition.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 232.81 points, or 1.06 per cent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,687.65.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 14.07 points, or 0.85 per cent, to finish at 1,632.05, reports Xinhua.
Information and communication, metal product, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
