Secondary trading of treasury bills and bonds dropped by 42 per cent in the last calendar year, according to the latest statistics of the central bank.
It showed that the transaction value of volume of secondary trading of the government short-term and long-term fixed income tradable instruments stood at Tk 164.41 billion in 2018.
The amount was Tk 282.91 billion in the previous year or 2017, showed the central bank statistics, reflecting a gradual decline in the secondary trading of these instruments for the last couple of years.
Treasury bills and bonds with different periods of maturities are currently tradable in the secondary market. These are issued by the government to borrow from the financial market.
