New Zealand shares inch down as technology drag

New Zealand shares edged lower on Friday, while Australian shares pulled back from 10-year highs, as weakness in commodity prices weighed on materials and energy-driven stocks.

The New Zealand shares dragged down by technology stocks and consumer cyclical, reports Reuters.

The benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index fell 0.3 per cent or 24.34 points to 7,996.75.

The index was on track to lose 1.0 per cent this week.

Accounting software firm Xero Ltd fell as much as 2.3 per cent, while Fletcher Building Ltd lost 1.0 per cent.
