Hong Kong shares marched to new 10-year highs on Tuesday, underpinned by gains for resources and information technology firms, and also encouraged by an extended bull run on Wall Street.
Chinese H-shares listed in Hong Kong rose 1.82 per cent at 12,697.32, while the Hang Seng Index was up 1.32 per cent at 31,751.60.
Around the region, MSCI’s Asia ex-Japan stock index was firmer by 0.39 per cent while Japan’s Nikkei index was up 0.88 per cent, reports Reuters.
The sub-index of the Hang Seng index tracking energy shares rose 1.6 per cent while the IT sector rose 2 per cent.
The top gainer on Hang Seng was China Mengniu Dairy Co Ltd up 6.99 per cent, while the biggest loser was AAC Technologies Holdings Inc which was down 1.94 per cent.
