China shares rose slightly on Tuesday, financial, consumer staples sectors led the gain.
The blue-chip CSI300 index was up 0.46 per cent, with its financial sector sub-index higher by 0.29 per cent, the consumer staples sector up 1.25 per cent, the real estate index up 1.36 per cent.
At 04:02 GMT, the Shanghai Composite index was up 10.31 points or 0.3 per cent at 3,420.80, according to Reuters.
The yuan was quoted at 6.431 per US dollar, 0.08 per cent firmer than the previous close of 6.4363.
The most gainer in the main Shanghai Composite index was Beijing Airport High-Tech Park Co Ltd up 10.02 per cent.
The top loser in the Shanghai index was Shangying Global Co Ltd down 9.99 per cent.
So far this year, the Shanghai stock index is up 3.12 per cent, while China’s H-share index is up 6.5 per cent. Shanghai stocks have risen 3.12 per cent this month.
