DSE, CSE fail to stay positive at midday

Nahee Aluminum makes flying debut

Stocks on both bourses failed to stay positive trend at midday Sunday as risk-averse investors went on selling spree on sector-wise stocks ahead of year-closing.

However, Nahee Aluminum Composite Panel, which made its share trading debut today, made flying trade debut as its share trading between Tk 85.40 and Tk 120 till 12:30pm at the major bourse against issue price of Tk 10.

Nahee Aluminum was also the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 378 million changing hands.

Following the previous week’s marginal correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher with low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 13 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse rose 33 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse gained nearly 10 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse advanced 35 points at 11:00am.

After that it started to decline.

After two hours of trading, DSEX fell more than 20 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 68 points at 12:30pm when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stood at 6,162 points, losing 20 points or 0.33 per cent at 12:30pm.

The two other indices also saw downturn till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 1.08 points or 0.05 per cent to reach at 2,230 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also fell 2.85 points or 0.20 per cent to reach at 1,364 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at Tk 1.68 billion, when the report was filed at 12:30pm, riding on newly listed Nahee Aluminum.

Nahee Aluminum was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 378 million changing hands, followed by National Tubes Tk 92 million, BBS Cables Tk 65 million, Rupali Life Insurance Tk 61 million, and Wata Chemicals Tk 53 million.

Of the issues traded till then, only 58 advanced, 208 declined, and 47 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of – losing 68 points to stand at 19,054 points, also at 12:30pm.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 41 points to reach at 11,517 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 32 gained, 105 declined, and 25 issues remained unchanged with BDT 190 million in turnover.
