Ten most-traded companies accounted for nearly 42 per cent of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week, with Beximco keeping its dominance on the turnover list for the tenth straight week.
The DSE turnover chart was ruled by some selective stocks in the past few months, which market analysts termed an 'irrational hype' among investors.
According to the DSE data, some 66.32 million Beximco shares were traded during the week, generating a turnover of Tk 9.12 billion, which was 12.87 per cent of the week's total turnover.
The week's total turnover stood at Tk 70.83 billion on the prime bourse.
Beximco's share closed at Tk 135.90 on Thursday, gaining 2.88 per cent over the week before. The company's share, however, soared to record high at Tk 187.90 on November 11, 2021.
Orion Pharma came second on the weekly turnover list, with shares worth Tk 7.0 billion changing hands during the week. The drug maker's share shed 7.70 per cent to close at Tk 116.20 on Thursday, after gaining 20.13 per cent in the week before.
JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 2.63 billion changing hands. The medical equipment manufacturer's share jumped 24.92 per cent to close at Tk 115.80 on Thursday.
LafargeHolcim emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 1.94 billion changing hands. The multinational cement maker's share closed at Tk 77.80 on Thursday, losing 6.04 per cent over the previous week.
Shinepukur Ceramics notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 1.86 billion changing hands. The company's share rose 5.02 per cent to close at Tk 48.10 on Thursday.
Turnover of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation was Tk 1.84 billion. The state-run corporation's share closed at Tk 135.40 on Thursday, losing 1.02 per cent.
Nahee Aluminum Composite Panel featured a turnover of Tk 1.52 billion. The company's share price fell 4.88 per cent to close at Tk 76 on Thursday.
The turnover of Orion Infusion was Tk 1.23 billion. The company's share closed at Tk 467.40 on Thursday, rising 11.55 per cent further during the week. Its share price skyrocketed 480 per cent or Tk 386 each in the past three months.
