Ten firms grab 37pc transactions

The ten most-traded companies accounted for 37 per cent of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week, with Genex Infosys dominating the turnover chart for a fourth straight week.

According to available data with the DSE, some 13.76 million shares of Genex Infosys were traded during the week, generating a turnover of Tk 1.29 billion, which was 6.38 per cent of the week's total turnover.

The week's total turnover stood at Tk 20.25 billion on the prime bourse as against Tk 20.68 billion in the previous week.

The IT Company's share price closed at Tk 91.20 on Thursday, losing 6.84 per cent. However, the company's share price rose as high as Tk 116 each on November 9 after the news of signing of a deal with the National Board of Revenue. On Ocrober 30 this year, its share price was Tk 71.20.

The company's consolidated earnings per share rose 14.68 per cent year-on-year to Tk 3.36 for the year ended June 30, 2022. Accordingly, the board declared 11 per cent cash dividend and 2.0 per cent stock dividend for the year ended June 30, 2022.

Basundhara Paper Mills came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 1.11 billion changing hands during the week. The company's share price dropped 8.88 per cent to close at Tk 82.10 on Thursday.

Aarmra Network clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 843 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 53.90 on Thursday, rising 14.44 per cent over the previous week.

Chartered Life Insurance emerged as fourth, with shares worth Tk 802 million changing hands. The life insurer's share jumped 4.43 per cent to close at Tk 68.40 on Thursday.

Orion Pharma notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 671 million changing hands. The pharma company's share price advanced 0.69 per cent to close at Tk 87.20 on Thursday.

Turnover of newly listed Navana Pharma was Tk 649 million. The company's share price fell 1.76 per cent to close at Tk 89.30 on Thursday.

Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa featured a turnover of Tk 540 million. Its share closed at Tk 178.40, gaining 0.45 per cent over the previous week.

The turnover of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation was Tk 533 million. The state-run corporation's share price rose 0.95 per cent to close at Tk 116.70 on Thursday.

Eastern Housing featured a turnover of Tk 505 million. The company's share closed at Tk 82.20, shedding 1.79 per cent over the week before.

Intraco Refueling Station also made its way to the week's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 458 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 2.10 per cent to close at Tk 42 on Thursday.
