National Tubes generates highest turnover

Ten most-traded companies captured more than 32 per cent transactions on the prime bourse on Tuesday, with the National Tubes generating the highest turnover.

National Tubes also dominated the day's gainer chart, soaring 8.32 per cent to close at Tk 174.40 on Tuesday. It was also the one year's highest closing price.

Market analysts said investors showed their appetite throughout the session for National Tubes shares ahead of dividend declaration as the company's financial year ended on June 30.

According to statistics available with the DSE, about 1.65 million shares of National Tubes were traded, generating a turnover of more than Tk 280 million, which was 6.43 per cent of the day's total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 4.35 billion on Tuesday, up from Tk 3.89 billion in the previous session.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at negative Tk 0.96 for July 2018-March 2019 as against negative Tk 2.24 for July 2017-March 2018.

The net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 0.03 for July 2018-March 2019 as against negative Tk 1.26 for July 2017-March 2018.

The net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 175.07 as on March 31, 2019 and Tk 193.62 as on June 30, 2018.

The National Tubes, which was listed on the DSE in 1989, disbursed 10 per cent stock dividend in 2018.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 316.56 million and authorised capital is Tk 1.0 billion while total number of securities is 31.65 million.

The sponsor-directors own 0.05 per cent stake in the company, while the government owns 51 per cent, institutional investors own 20.14 per cent and the general public 28.81 per cent as of August 31, 2019, the DSE data showed.

Monno Stafflers came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 194 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 6.24 per cent to close at Tk 1,820.50 each.

Legacy Footwear clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 144 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 137.70, advancing 2.68 per cent.

The BATBC emerged fourth, with shares worth Tk 135 million changing hands. The company's share rose 1.06 per cent to close at Tk 1178.20 each.

Square Pharmaceuticals notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 123 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 236.40 each, losing 2.27 per cent.

The turnover of JMI Syringes was also Tk 123 million. The company's share price closed at Tk 441.30, losing 8.08 per cent.

The Stylecraft featured a turnover of Tk 113 million. The company's share price fell 6.31 per cent to close at Tk 812.50 each.

The turnover of Monno Ceramic was Tk 110 million. The company's share price plunged 9.99 per cent to close at Tk 175.60 each.

United Power featured a turnover of Tk 97 million. The company's share closed at Tk 325.60 each, gaining 3.33 per cent over the previous session.

The Beacon Pharmaceuticals also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 92 million changing hands. The company's share shed 1.11 per cent to close at Tk 26.80 each.
