Submarine Cable generates highest turnover on DSE

Ten cos account for one-fourth turnover

Ten most traded companies snared one-fourth transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sunday, with the Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company making it to the top of the turnover list.

Market analysts said investors showed their appetite on BSCCL shares amid higher dividend expectation as the company's year ended on June 30, 2019.

According to data available with the DSE, about 1.10 million shares of BSCCL were traded on Sunday, generating a turnover of Tk 138 million, making up 3.59 per cent of the DSE's total turnover of Tk 3.84 billion.

The state-run company's share closed at Tk 125, gaining 3.31 per cent over the previous day.

The company's share was traded between Tk 71.50 and Tk 180 in the last one year.

The company's nine months earnings per share (EPS) was Tk 2.47 for July 2018-March 2019 as against Tk 0.14 for July 2017-March 2018.

The earnings per share increased due to increase in revenue and no significant additional expenditure against the increased revenue, the company said.

Monno Jute Stafflers came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 130 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 1,584.10 each, soaring 6.24 per cent.

The Monno Ceramic clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 117 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 6.84 per cent to close at Tk 193.80 each.

National Tubes emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 112 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 156.80 each, losing 4.33 per cent.

Sonar Bangla Insurance notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 85 million changing hands. The insurer's share price rose 1.94 per cent to close at Tk 36.70 each.

The turnover of Premier Bank was Tk 81 million. The bank's share closed at Tk 11.40, gaining 2.70 per cent over the previous day.

Stylecraft featured a turnover of Tk 75 million. The textile company's share price advanced 2.82 per cent to close at Tk 804.70 each.

The turnover of Fortune Shoes was more than Tk 73 million. The company's share price advanced 4.14 per cent to close at Tk 30.20 each.

Legacy Footwear featured a turnover of nearly Tk 73 million. The company's share closed at Tk 131.70 each, gaining 2.17 per cent.
