Stocks open higher with DSEX slightly up

Dhaka Stocks Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stocks Exchange (CSE) have witnessed rise in early session as optimistic investors went back on the buying spree on Wednesday.

DSE prime index DSEX advanced 17.79 points or 0.28 per cent to stand at 6,300 points, when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Two other indices of the premier bourse also rose.

Of them, DS30 comprising blue chips gained 7.51 points or 0.33 per cent to reach 2,276 points, also at 11:00 am and Shariah index DSES added 6.04 points or 0.43 per cent to stand at 1388 points.

Turnover, an important indicator of the capital market, stood at Tk 1.42 billion until the time mentioned above.

Of the issues traded till then, 167 advanced, 49 declined and 34 remained unchanged.

CMC Kamal Textile Mills Limited was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 148 million changing hands, followed by AB Bank, LankaBangla Finance, and Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Port city bourse CSE saw a positive trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –advancing 34 points to stand at 11,800 points, also at 11:30am.

Of the issues traded, 56 gained, 27 declined and 15 issues remained unchanged with Tk 38 million in turnover.
