Stocks on both bourses moved narrowly at the opening on Thursday as investors mostly followed cautious mood.
Following the previous day’s sharp decline, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on negative note with low trading activities.
DSEX, prime index of the premier bourse, went down by 2.34 points or 0.04 per cent to reach 5,819 points at 11:15am.
Two other indices of the DSE also fell.
Of those, DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 1.88 points or 0.08 per cent to reach 2,141 points, and Shariah index DSES lost 2.33 points or 0.16 per cent to stand at 1,370 points till then.
Turnover, the most important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 532 million when the report was filed at 11:15am.
Of the issues traded till then, 108 advanced, 99 declined and 58 remained unchanged.
Monno Ceramics was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 37 million changing hands, closely followed by ACI Ltd Tk 32 million, Pharma Aids Tk 32, Nahee Aluminum Tk 26 million and Dragon Sweater Tk 23 million.
Port city bourse CSE also saw a negative trend with its All Share Price Index - CASPI - losing 30.97 points to stand at 17,962, also at 11:15am.
Its Selective Category Index – CSCX – also fell 18.85 points to stand at 10,843 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 51 declined, 32 nudged higher, and 17 remained unchanged with Tk 23 million in turnover.
