National Tubes tops the turnover list

Low-cap companies continued to dominate the Dhaka Stock Exchange's turnover chart while ten most-traded companies accounted for 21 per cent transactions on Tuesday.

National Tubes topped the turnover chart though according to an emphasis of matter posted on the DSE website on Tuesday, the company has been making losses over the last few years which resulted in the decrease of its retained earnings balance at the reporting date.

Besides, due to continuous losses its operating cash flows were also in negative during the year. These conditions indicate that a material uncertainty exists that may cast significant doubt on the company's ability to continue as a going concern, it noted.

According to the DSE data, 862,311 shares of National Tubes were traded, generating a turnover of 134 million, which was 2.39 per cent of the day's total turnover of Tk 5.60 billion.

The company's share closed at Tk 154.20 each on Tuesday, losing 2.59 per cent over the previous day.

The state-run company's share traded between Tk 98.30 and Tk 205.90 in the last one year.

The board of directors of the company has recommended 10 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2019. The AGM will be held on December 26.

The company has also reported EPS Tk 0.16 in negative, NAV per share of Tk 175.30 and NOCFPS of Tk 1.68 in negative for the year ended on June 30, 2019 as against Tk 2.05, Tk. 193.62 and Tk 0.69 in negative respectively for the same period of the previous year.

The National Tubes, listed on the DSE in 1989, also disbursed 10 per cent stock dividend in 2018.

The City Bank came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth more than Tk 127 million changing hands. The bank's share rose 4.21 per cent to close at Tk 22.30 each.

Kattali Textile clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 127 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 13.30 per cent.

LankaBangla Finance emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 122 million changing hands. The company's share price soared 6.25 per cent to close at Tk 18.70 each.

Beacon Pharma notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 120 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 36.60, gaining 0.55 per cent.

The turnover of Premier Bank was Tk 114 million. The bank's share rose 4.07 per cent to close at Tk 12.80 each.

Sonar Bangla Insurance featured a turnover of Tk 113 million. The non-life insurer's share closed at Tk 51.50, advancing 3.62 per cent.
