Share prices of listed multinational companies (MNCs) declined more than 15 per cent in last three sessions as the country's capital markets suffered sharp losses amid panic-driven selling pressure.
In last three sessions, the DSEX, broad index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), lost 10.84 per cent or 458.93 points and closed at 3772.55 points on Monday amid panic, created by COVID-19 pandemic.
During the period, the share prices of listed MNCs having good fundamentals declined ranging between 3.0 per cent and 15.47 per cent on the premier bourse DSE.
Of the MNCs, Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh witnessed the highest loss of 15.47 per cent or Tk 23.2 to close at Tk 126.7 each on Monday.
The share price of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh declined 14 per cent or Tk 5.5 and closed at Tk 33.9 each on Monday.
The share price of Singer Bangladesh closed at Tk 141.6 each on Monday with a loss of 11 per cent or Tk 17.3 from the closing price observed on March 10.
In last three sessions, the share price of Grameenphone declined 10 per cent or Tk 44.3 to close at Tk 229.8 each on Monday.
On Monday, the share price of Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) closed at Tk 668 each with a loss of 9.81 per cent or Tk 72.7 from the closing price observed on March 10.
The share price of British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (BATBC) declined 9.12 per cent or Tk 87.8 in last three sessions and closed at Tk 874.4 each on Monday.
After declining 9.21 per cent or Tk 152.2 in last three sessions, the share price of Marico Bangladesh closed at Tk 1499.8 each on Monday.
Of other MNCs, the share price of Linde Bangladesh declined 5.32 per cent, Berger Paints Bangladesh 5.0 per cent and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Bangladesh 3.0 per cent in last three sessions executed on the DSE.
