Ten most-traded stocks accounted for one-fourth of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), with IPDC Finance making its way to the top of the weekly turnover list after a long time.
Market operators said IPDC Finance dominated the turnover chart as investors showed their buying appetite on its shares amid high expectations.
The company will hold its board meeting on Tuesday to consider, among others, un-audited financial statements of the company for the first quarter (Q1) period ended March 31, 2022.
According to statistics available with the DSE, some 36.44 million shares of IPDC Finance were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 1.72 billion, which was 7.60 per cent of the week's total turnover.
The company's share price also jumped 11.45 per cent during the week to close at Tk 47.70 on Wednesday, the last trading day of the week.
In the last one month, its share price soared 32 per cent although there is no undisclosed price sensitive information of the company.
The country's first private-sector non-bank financial institution shares traded between Tk 22.30 and Tk 50.40 in the last one year.
IPDC Finance posted a 24.73 per cent growth in its earnings per share for the year ended on December 31, 2021 compared to the same period of the previous year.
Beximco came second on the turnover list, with shares worth Tk 1.47 billion changing hands during the week. The company's share price, however, fell 2.28 per cent to close at Tk 145.40 on Wednesday.
Sonali Paper & Board Mills clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 773 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 872.80, soaring 8.50 per cent.
Genex Infosys emerged as fourth, with shares worth Tk 645 million changing hands. The IT Company's share price fell 1.15 per cent to close at Tk 111.30.
LafargeHolcim notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 618 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 77.60, losing 1.65 per cent over the previous week.
Provati Insurance featured a turnover of Tk 581 million. The company's share price rose 2.43 per cent to close at Tk 109.40 on Wednesday.
The turnover of Fortune Shoes was Tk 508 million. The shoe maker's share price dropped 5.18 per cent to close at Tk 122.60 each.
Square Pharma featured a turnover of Tk 430 million. The company's share closed at Tk 224.80 each, rising 1.54 per cent.
The turnover of Nahee Aluminum Composite Panel was Tk 330 million. Its share closed at Tk 73.60, losing 0.81 per cent over the week before.
Gemini Sea Food also made its way to the week's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 301 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 518.30, gaining 2.15 per cent.
