Ten most traded companies accounted for 23 per cent transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), with the Fortune Shoes making it to top of the chart for the fifth straight session on Tuesday.
Market analysts said the investors continued to show their appetite for Fortune shares following the news that the company recently signed an agreement with New York-based Steve Madden for export of Shoes for US$ 4.0 million.
According to DSE statistics, about 3.43 million shares of Fortune Shoes were traded on Tuesday, generating a turnover of more than Tk 133 million, making up 4.20 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.
The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 3.17 billion on the day, down from Tk 4.64 billion in the previous session.
The shoemaker's share traded between Tk 37.90 and Tk 39.70, before closing at Tk 39, advancing 3.17 per cent over the previous day.
The company posted a 35 per cent rise in earnings per share (EPS) in January-March, 2019 quarter, compared to same quarter in the previous year.
The company's EPS stood at Tk 0.54 for January-March 2019 as against Tk 0.40 for January-March 2018.
The Fortune Shoes, listed on the DSE in 2016, disbursed 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.
The Sinobangla Industries came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 102 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 72.20, soaring 7.76 per cent over the previous day.
Square Pharma clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 72 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 1.25 per cent to close at Tk 250.70 each.
The Doreen Power emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 64 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 75.30, advancing 3.01 per cent.
United Power notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 61 million changing hands. The power generation company's share price advanced 0.61 per cent to close at Tk 377.40 each.
The turnover of Beacon Pharma was Tk 58 million. The company's share closed at Tk 21.30 each, gaining 0.95 per cent.
National Polymer featured a turnover of Tk 57 million. The company's share price rose 5.97 per cent to close at Tk 124.30 each.
BRAC Bank featured a turnover of Tk 56 million. The bank's share closed at Tk 62.70 each, gaining 2.45 per cent.
The turnover of Sea Pearl Beach Resort was Tk 53 million. The company's share price rose 1.92 per cent to close at Tk 37.20 each.
The Monno Ceramic also made its way to the day's top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 52 million changing hands. The company's share price gained 4.59 per cent to close at Tk 141.40 each.
