Top ten-traded firms captured more than 28 per cent transaction of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday while Fortune Shoes topped the chart.
Market analysts said investors showed their appetite on Fortune Shoes shares after the company posted a 35 per cent earnings growth in January-March, 2019 quarter.
The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.54 for January-March 2019 as against Tk 0.40 for January-March 2018.
In nine months for July 2018-March 2019, its EPS was Tk 1.67 as against Tk 1.19 for July 2017-March 2018.
According to statistics from the DSE, with9.33 million shares of Fortune Shoes were traded on Monday, generating a turnover of mot5re than Tk 359 million, which was 7.68 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.
The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 4.67 billion on Monday which was Tk 5.35 billion in the day before.
The company's share price closed at Tk 39.10 each on Monday, soaring 4.27 per cent over the previous session.
The company's share traded between Tk 27.70 and Tk 40.40 in the last one year.
The Fortune Shoes, which was listed on the DSE in 2016, disbursed 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.25 billion, authorised capital is Tk 1.50 billion and the total number of securities is 124.93 million.
The sponsor-directors own 30.93 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 10.34 per cent and the general public 58.73 per cent as of March 31, 2019.
The recently listed Esquire Knit Composite followed next, with shares worth Tk 173 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 49, soaring 8.41 per cent. It was also the day's third highest gainer.
National Polymer clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 126 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 106.20, remaining unchanged over the previous day.
Legacy Footwear emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 116 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 143.30 each, advancing 4.37 per cent.
Monno Ceramic notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 103 million changing hands. The company's share price edged up by 0.21 per cent to close at Tk 239.10 each.
The turnover of National Tubes was Tk 99 million. The company's share price fell 1.74 per cent to close at Tk 124.50 each.
Genex Infosys featured a turnover of Tk 94 million. The company's share closed at Tk 49.90 each, rising 7.31 per cent over the previous day.
Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company featured a turnover of Tk 89 million. The state-run company's share closed at Tk 50.20 each, losing 1.95 per cent over the previous session.
The turnover of Brac Bank was Tk 79 million. The bank's share closed at Tk 63.10, shedding 1.56 per cent over the previous session.
United Power also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 76 million changing hands. The power generation company's share price advanced fell 1.50 per cent to close at Tk 315.40 each.
